P-EBT Information

The pandemic EBT program also known as P-EBT is no more as the pandemic was officially declared ended by US Government on May 11, 2023. However, USDA started a Summer -EBT program Summer of 2023. Allocations will not be dispersed to qualifying recipients until the end of August 2023 see more information below.

Summer EBT

  • Summer EBT looks different this year because of changes included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 that was signed into law on December 29, 2022:

  • Summer EBT benefits are now $40 per month, $120 for the full summer.

  • States can provide Summer EBT benefits even if they did not provide school-year benefits.

  • All benefits must be issued by September 30, 2023.

Updates and Announcements Childcare /PreK P-EBT

The New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) in collaboration with the Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) will issue Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT) benefits for children, under of the age of six, who was a member of a household that received food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) at any time since August 1, 2022, through May 11, 2023. New Mexico received federal approval to issue Childcare P-EBT benefits for the 2022-2023 school year. Each month that the child age 0 through 5 were on SNAP, will be looked at to determine eligibility.  Benefits will be issued in multiple payments beginning April 19, 2023. The amount for January 2023 through April 2023 per eligible child will be $18.11 per month. The amount for May 2023 per eligible child will be $9.06. Issuance dates will be as followed:

  • August and September 2022 will be deposited on April 19 through April 21, 2023.

  • October and November 2022 will be deposited on May 18 through May 19, 2023.

  • December 2022 will be made on June 16, 2023.

  • January, February, and March 2023 will be deposited on July 21, 2023.

  • April and May 2023 issuance dates are still to be determined.

There will be no issuances for the summer months for these children. In order for Childcare P-EBT to be authorized by FNS, a Public Health Emergency (PHE) due to COVID must be in place. The PHE is due to end on May 11, 2023.
