Betty Williams has been recognized as the 2021 Teacher of the Year in Region 2 by the National Johnson-O’Malley Association

Our very own Betty Williams has been recognized as the 2021 Teacher of the Year in Region 2 by the National Johnson-O’Malley Association! Ms. Williams is a Navajo Language teacher at Apache Elementary School, where she has taught for 23 years. Congratulations!

Ms. Williams is of the Bitter Water clan, born for Many Goats, Yucca Strung Out & Salt clans are her maternal and paternal grandfathers. She is originally from Black Mesa, Arizona. Many of her studies have centered on understanding the barriers contributing to language loss and the strategies for maintaining and revitalizing the Diné language.
