There was a risk of giving away the surprise when a film crew showed up at our Friday Pep Rally at Farmington High School.
The crew from our partners at Zia Media was there to capture the special moment Ms. Rochelle Hastings was named the 2026 Chick-fil-A Leader Academy West Region Teacher of the Year. She is one of six winners nationwide.

Ms. Hastings serves as our Work Experience and Work-Based Learning teacher, but her impact reaches far beyond the classroom. Every day, she helps students discover their potential, build confidence, and grow into leaders who are ready to make a difference in their school and community.
Her work with organizations like Business Professionals of America, Student Senate, and Family Career and Community Leaders of America gives students even more opportunities to practice leadership, teamwork, and responsibility. Under her guidance, students are learning career skills and the importance of giving back.
We are incredibly proud of Ms. Hastings and grateful for the way she models kindness, service, and strong leadership for our students every day. This recognition is truly well-deserved.
Our heartfelt thank you to Chick-fil-A for awarding Farmington High School 10 thousand dollars. This generous gift will help our school expand opportunities for students to grow as leaders and continue making a difference in our communities.
Joining us for the celebration were Hunter Macinnis, Chick-fil-A Senior Program Leader, Gary Smouse, Owner and Operator of Chick-fil-A in Farmington, Zia Media, Principal Rocky Torres, FHS students and staff, and the Chick-fil-A Cow.
Ms. Hastings has been a valued member of Farmington Municipal Schools since August 2006.
