Knights, Griffins, and Panthers Shine at State English Expo

They came, they wrote, they conquered!

Heights Middle School had 33 students compete at the English Expo on Saturday, February 28, 2026, bringing home an incredible 31 medals, including six new NMAA State Champions! Our students worked tirelessly to prepare and represented Heights with excellence and pride. We couldn’t be more proud of their dedication and achievement. Outstanding job, Knights!

Hermosa, San Juan College High School, Farmington High, and Piedra Vista High School also had an amazing Expo showing.

27 Hermosa students competed at the Expo and brought home 21 medals. Congratulations, Matadors!

SJCHS had five students bring home hardware. Congratulations to Abril, Audrey, AnJenik, Gavin, and Hope. Great job, Griffins!

Farmington High School students came back with 2 state champions and 3 double-medal winners. Go, Scorps!

Piedra Vista sent 28 students. 7 students brought home medals. Congratulations, Panthers!

A very special thank you to our educators and families whose support helped make this event such a success.

Each year, hundreds of middle and high school students from across the state attend the annual English Expo competition. Participants select two contests from 24 categories in writing, skills, speaking, and artistic expression. The 2026 New Mexico English Expo XXXVI was held at Atrisco Heritage Academy High School in Albuquerque.
