Farmington Municipal Schools joined important conversations about jobs, education, and the future of energy in our region during the 2025 San Juan Basin Energy Conference.
The event brought together leaders from education, business, and government, including representatives from San Juan College, Logos Energy, Citi, ARM Energy, Harvest Midstream, and many others, to talk about how our communities can grow and thrive in the new energy economy.
Our Director of College and Career Readiness, Mr. Milo McMinn, joined a panel focused on how schools can better prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow. The discussion, moderated by Jane Henzerling, Managing Director of Programs at Excellent Schools NM, also included Patrick Mason, Partner at Mason and Isaacson and founder of Hozho Academy, Alicia Corbell, Dean of the SJC School of Energy, and Sam Cobb, Mayor of the City of Hobbs.
Mr. McMinn shared how FMS is helping students explore careers and gain real-world experience through programs like the new aviation program at Piedra Vista High School and the CNA program at Farmington High School. These opportunities connect directly to local workforce needs and give students valuable skills for life after graduation.
The Energy Conference, held October 23 and 24, also featured state leaders, including Senator Bill Sharer and Representatives Meredith Dixon, Gail Armstrong, and Patty Lundstrom. Topics included energy production, environmental responsibility, natural gas, legislation, and artificial intelligence.

Ms. Krista McWilliams, Chief Operating Officer at LOGOS Energy and Vice President of the FMS School Board, served as emcee for the 2025 San Juan Basin Energy Conference.

Mr. Sam Cobb, Mayor of the City of Hobbs, shared insights on the creation of CTECH and highlighted how their Career and Technical Education Center is helping high school students earn valuable credentials.
