FMS Transportation Academy: Supporting Safe Student Transportation

We’re celebrating the growth of our FMS Transportation Academy! This week, we hosted school districts from the Four Corners, as well as Cuba, Dulce, Peñasco, and Aneth, Utah. More than 440 school bus drivers participated in this important training event at Farmington High.

Drivers learned about critical topics such as first aid, safe driving practices, managing distractions, handling difficult situations with students, parents, and staff, and how to respond to everyday challenges and emergencies. These sessions were designed to help ensure your children travel safely to and from school every day.

Workshops included valuable peer discussions, giving drivers the chance to learn from each other’s experiences and share best practices.

We’re incredibly grateful to our presenters from Poms & Associates, Robert’s Trucking, and Farmington Municipal Schools for equipping drivers with the tools they need to keep students safe. A special thank you to Costa Vida and Olive Garden for generously providing lunch for our attendees and their support of this event.

Huge SHOUTOUT to our Transportation Department for doing amazing work!

In the photos, you’ll see some of our classes in action, like our First Aid training, where drivers learn essential lifesaving skills such as CPR (compressions and rescue breathing) and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This training gives them the confidence to respond calmly and effectively in an emergency, potentially saving a life when it matters most.
