We spent the morning at Animas Elementary as the school was hosting Mr. Joseph Chee for two storytelling sessions for our students.
During the sessions, Mr. Chee wove together the narrative of “The Journey to the Sun” with valuable life lessons that our students can apply in their daily lives. Through the narrative of “The Story of the Horse,” he imparted essential lessons on the importance of respecting and listening to our teachers and family members, developing self-care habits, and fulfilling our responsibilities with diligence.
We want to thank Mr. Chee for his dedication to sharing his invaluable message and Diné traditions with our students, enriching their educational journey. Kudos to Animas Elementary for organizing this wonderful event, and providing our students with the opportunity to engage with Mr. Chee's teachings.
Mr. Joseph Chee, who has been teaching for close to 40 years, has been recognized by the National Johnson-O'Malley Association for his teaching approach and commitment to Diné traditions.
