Roman Art and Food Day

Roman Art and Food Day

Ms. Wingrove's third-grade class at Mesa Verde Elementary School recently delved into the fascinating world of Roman mythology and history. To bring their learning to life, the students enjoyed a special "Roman Art and Food Day." They dressed up, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm for the subject.

The highlight of the day was the creation of unique mosaic masterpieces, each reflecting the students' artistic flair and careful planning. The results were truly beautiful!

To wrap up their Roman adventure, the class celebrated with a mini feast featuring Rome-inspired snacks. What a delightful and educational experience for our young Wildcats!

Dressing up like Farmers

To celebrate the end of their recent *reading unit about farms, the kindergarten students and staff at Ladera del Norte Elementary dressed up like farmers. They had a fun day making butter from cream and homemade sourdough bread. But that's not all – one of our families even brought some farm animals for the kids to play with and learn more about. Great job, Hornets!

Modern-day Archaeologists

Recently, the history class at Hermosa Middle School became modern-day archaeologists for an afternoon. Our students learned about the art of excavation and the importance of attention to detail, while carefully finding history inside rocks and plaster. Using toothpicks and brushes as part of this project our students also developed a deeper appreciation for the work of archaeologists and the patience required to carefully piece together fragments of history without damaging it. Nice work, Matadors!

*With Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA), students are also building their knowledge and vocabulary. Our schools are taking this learning to the next level by wrapping up their reading units with hands-on lessons. These activities are not only memorable but also reinforce what the students have been studying.
