Multi-Layered System of Supports (MLSS): Helping Every Student Succeed

Our district is committed to ensuring that every student receives the support they need to learn, grow, and thrive. As part of our strategic plan, we define MLSS as High Reliability Schools Leading Indicator 3.6, where “The school establishes appropriate school- and classroom-level programs and practices to help students meet individual achievement goals when data indicate interventions are needed”. The Multi-Layered System of Supports (MLSS) is a framework that helps schools provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support for ALL students.

MLSS helps teachers focus on providing high-quality learning opportunities for ALL students and to problem-solve for students who may be struggling:

How Families Can Help:

  • Stay connected with your child’s teacher

  • Review progress updates together

  • Encourage a positive attitude toward learning

  • Share any concerns or observations at home

  • Ensure regular school attendance
