Farmington Municipal Schools did not organize or sponsor today’s student protest at Farmington High. We respect our students’ right to express their opinions, and we also value the right of students who did not participate to continue learning in a safe and orderly environment. Students who chose to take part in the walkout did so independently, and classes remained in session for those who stayed in their classrooms.
Our district is committed to maintaining the importance of the instructional day. At the same time, we understand the current national climate and recognize that some students feel strongly about making their voices heard. We respect their constitutional rights to free speech and expression and appreciate our families’ continued support as we work to balance these responsibilities.
