This past weekend, swimmers and divers from Farmington High School and Piedra Vista High School competed at the Griffin Invite in Santa Fe. This was the 25th year of this exciting meet, which was held at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center and featured 18 teams from across New Mexico. Competing schools included Albuquerque Academy, Hobbs, Los Alamos, Los Lunas, St. Pius X, Valencia, Taos High, and many others.

Both programs brought a large group of athletes to the meet. Farmington High School had 50 competitors, and Piedra Vista High School brought close to 40 swimmers. This marks the highest participation the PVHS program has seen in quite some time and reflects the continued growth and enthusiasm in the team.

There were many strong performances throughout the weekend. Farmington High School added two new state qualifiers, with Gracee Mullin qualifying in the 200 Individual Medley and Ethan Hilton qualifying in the 50 Freestyle. Piedra Vista High School also celebrated a new state qualifier, as diver Payson Christensen earned a spot at the state meet.

In addition to the qualifiers, athletes from both schools recorded numerous personal best times. The Piedra Vista boys achieved 18 new personal bests, while the Piedra Vista girls posted 17 new personal records, showing steady improvement and hard work paying off.

The teams will now turn their focus to the District 2A Championship meet, which will take place this Friday and Saturday. We are excited to see the momentum continue as our swimmers and divers head into championship season.
