This week, the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) released the Spring 2025 statewide assessment results, which include updated proficiency rates in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. Full statewide data is available on the NMPED website [here].
NMPED is highlighting strong and sustained growth in literacy since 2022, marking the largest post-pandemic gains across grades 3-8. In Mathematics, however, the state continues to face persistent challenges with flat overall growth.
Here are the FMS schools that NMPED highlighted in several key categories of academic growth this year:
Highest Growth in Literacy Proficiency Rate (Medium Schools, 400–800 students)
Esperanza Elementary School: Participation 100.0%
McCormick Elementary School: Participation 100.0%
Highest Growth in Literacy Proficiency Rate (Large Schools, 800+ students)
Piedra Vista High School: Participation 96.5%
Highest Growth in Math Proficiency Rate (Small Schools, 100–400 students)
San Juan College High School: Participation 98.8%
Highest Growth in Math Proficiency Rate (Medium Schools, 400–800 students)
McCormick Elementary School: Participation 100.0%
Country Club Elementary School: Participation 100%
