Today, our students at Northeast Elementary School kicked off the first of three dance parties to celebrate September 29, also known as #BeHereNM Day! Over at Esperanza Elementary School, the celebration got even more exciting as students danced alongside our school’s ferocious (but fun-loving) Cougar, reminding everyone that #AttendanceMatters.
While this is part of a statewide campaign, our schools have been championing attendance since day one of the school year, finding creative ways to celebrate students and encourage them to show up every single day.
At Apache Elementary School recently, students with perfect attendance enjoyed extra recess and a costume race, while also starting a new tradition of sharing positive messages with one another. At Heights Middle School, families joined in the fun at Family Engagement Night, where students with perfect attendance were recognized. Rocinante High School is already seeing great results with a renewed focus on attendance, and at Tibbetts Middle School, short streaks of strong attendance are being recognized as stepping stones toward a bigger goal of perfect attendance. At McCormick Elementary School, all students enjoyed a Popsicle Party with the promise of another one coming soon.
And at Mesa Verde Elementary School, our kindergarten team has gone above and beyond from day one, greeting students at the drop-off lane to make sure every child starts and ends their day with a warm, familiar smile. Their celebrations have continued with attendance rewards and a recent Family Engagement Night.
And the work doesn’t end there. The district is working on tracking and sharing important attendance data so families can stay informed and see the progress we’re making together. Stay tuned for more.
