We are so grateful to San Juan College for bringing the wonderful bilingual play “Raquel’s Purple Pineapple Adventures” to our schools. Students from McCormick Elementary and Esperanza Elementary had such a great time following the story of ten-year-old Raquel, who spends her summer working to improve her reading skills while helping her mamá at their busy family campground.
When Raquel begins to feel overwhelmed, a magical new friend named Pinkie the Piña Morada (Purple Pineapple) comes to life right out of the pages of a book. Through songs, salsa dancing, and humor, Pinkie helps Raquel discover her strengths, manage her emotions, and see that learning can be an exciting adventure.

We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to our Multicultural Department for creating this special opportunity and sharing it with our students.

And a big round of applause to the talented performers from the Creede Repertory Theatre for putting on such a fun and engaging show. Our students were completely captivated and left feeling inspired and happy.
The play is sponsored by San Juan College and performed at the beautiful Connie Gotsch Theatre.
¡Muchas gracias, San Juan College!
