Farmington Municipal Schools Launches Next-Generation Attendance Strategy

Farmington Municipal Schools has taken a major step toward improving student attendance by adopting SchoolStatus Attend, an attendance support solution developed by SchoolStatus, a national leader in K-12 communication and data tools. This district-wide initiative gives schools better resources to identify attendance concerns early and provide support before chronic absenteeism becomes an obstacle to learning.

The effort comes at a time when districts across the country continue to face persistent attendance challenges that began during the pandemic and remain a concern today.

“Our focus at Farmington Municipal Schools is always your child’s success. We have implemented a new program to help ensure every student benefits from full participation in school. This system allows us to monitor attendance patterns and communicate with families promptly when absences occur, so we can work together to identify and remove barriers,” said Superintendent Cody Diehl.

“I understand that families face real challenges, including transportation issues, health concerns, and other responsibilities. If anything makes regular attendance difficult for your child, please reach out. Our goal is to support your family. I encourage you to stay engaged with your child’s education. Together we can build a future full of growth, achievement, and positive experiences,” he added.

This week, the district sent its first attendance notifications to families to ensure they remain informed about their child’s absence status. District leaders believe these updates are essential to helping families recognize issues early. Families whose students have excused absences and no concerns are encouraged to continue monitoring attendance and keeping it a priority.

Regular attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic success. Students who miss fewer than five days per year are twice as likely to score proficient on state assessments, are more likely to stay on track for graduation, and are better prepared for future education and career paths.
