This week, our preschoolers had an exciting field trip to experience lunch in an elementary school cafeteria—just like the “big kids.” Instead of eating in their classroom, they lined up, grabbed their trays, and enjoyed a delicious meal of rib patties, corn, wheat bread, peaches, and milk at the McKinley cafeteria.
Our little learners even practiced important cafeteria routines like composting and returning their trays—gaining confidence and independence along the way. And some of their parents joined them for lunch.
We hope this visit becomes another end-of-year tradition, helping preschoolers take small steps toward their next big adventure in elementary school.
Mark your calendars: All FMS students will begin the school year 2025-2026 on August 7—there will be no transition day this year.
