Update: Elementary STEM Labs will have 3D Printing

Last December, we shared some exciting news: Farmington Municipal Schools partnered with the Ripken Foundation, Flogistics, and New Mexico State University to bring brand-new STEM Labs to our elementary schools.

Each school will have its own dedicated STEM Lab filled with hands-on learning tools like coding kits, circuitry projects, and design challenges—all created to spark curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills in our students.

Here’s an exciting update: every elementary school will have its own 3D printer! Our teachers recently completed training on how to safely use them with students. These printers will support classroom learning while helping students follow directions, work together, and bring their ideas to life.

Staff also explored other fun and educational tools like the Bee-Bot, a small robot that teaches early skills like counting, sequencing, and problem-solving.

Last year, 5th graders at Bluffview Elementary had a blast coding with Ozobots (tiny, programmable robots) and even started creating their own custom sequences!

STEM Labs are more than just cool gadgets—they’re part of our commitment to preparing students for the future. These labs give kids a chance to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in fun, interactive ways that inspire learning and teamwork.

We’re incredibly grateful to our partners for helping us bring these amazing opportunities to our schools, and we can’t wait to see what our students learn next!
