Wireless Communication Policy

On August 11, 2026, the FMS Board of Education updated the language in its cell phone policy.

The District will continue to prohibit students from using wireless communication devices, including smart glasses, during instructional hours and class time. Exceptions remain for instructional-related activities, health, safety, and emergency reasons, as well as IEPs and Section 504 Service Agreements.

New to the policy is the introduction of annual, developmentally appropriate Digital Citizenship education for all grades, helping students learn to navigate the digital world responsibly. You'll find resources and information on this page.

Our goal remains to create vibrant, present, and distraction-free classrooms where learning and human connection come first. We are also committed to exploring how to manage screen time, staying safe on social media, and building healthy online habits.
