Find out what students, parents, and staff have to say about San Juan College High School

San Juan College High School has offered our son, Josh, a supportive and enriching educational experience. The inclusive culture of SJCHS provides students with a place to feel valued and appreciated for their individuality. SJCHS celebrates all students and encourages them to find the path that fits their personality, academic goals, and future plans. Small class sizes provide an individualized education experience at SJCHS, and Josh has the freedom to learn at an accelerated pace with like-minded students. Josh’s opportunity to work with the SJCHS College Liaison helped bridge the transition from high school to college classes, as well as registering for college entrance exams, seeking scholarship opportunities, and applying to a four-year university. As an SJCHS student, enrolling in dual-credit courses at San Juan College allowed Josh to explore different subjects and discover his interest in anthropology, geology, and philosophy. In addition to completing his high school and Associate of Liberal Arts degrees, Josh also had the opportunity to complete SJC Honors Courses and graduate as a Merrion Master Scholar. The SJCHS Executive Internship experience allowed Josh to serve as an intern with a local law firm and solidify his interest in pursuing a law degree. We are incredibly thankful for San Juan College High School and the excellent educational opportunities it provided Josh.

San Juan College High School has shaped the course of my life over the past three years and will continue to as I move forward into my educational passions. As a senior, looking back on my experience at this school, I could not be more proud to call myself a SJCHS Griffin. I have had the wonderful opportunity to learn at an accelerated pace with others who share similar values and work ethic, something a traditional high school environment could not provide. The unique structure of this school has allowed me to understand the expectations and demands of a college student which will assist in the transition of education after high school. The flexible schedule of college classes has shown me how to manage my time effectively and establish a healthy balance of school and all other life activities. San Juan College High School has allowed me to take control over my education helping me to find my passion of biology and serving others. Without the amazing network of staff and their continuous hard work to ensure that students are not lost when they enter the college arena, I would not be where I am today. I have created friendships that will last a lifetime with students as well as high school and college teachers who are invested in the success of each student and their individual needs and goals. My experience here at San Juan College has not been anything less than exceptional.
Thank you,

I enrolled at SJCHS in order to jumpstart my training to become an A welder. I was initially apprehensive since I wasn't sure whether I was prepared for college classes, but the professors made it so that I could follow along and return later if I needed help. The teachers in this program are all very kind and understanding, and the program has been quite inviting. I am happy that I decided to attend SJCHS since I have liked my time here.

When I found out that I got accepted to SJCHS, I was thrilled due to the fact that I could earn my HS diploma and Associate's Degree at the same time. SJCHS seemed the best fit for me because it would help me reach my goals in my education. The challenges that were presented to me helped me get a better understanding of the coursework. My advice for upcoming freshmen is to ask for help in classes when needed and don’t fall too far behind.

SJCHS has been one of the most valuable opportunities that I’ve been given. The pace and challenges that I’ve faced have given me experience in knowing what to expect after graduation. The school has opened the door to so many clubs and organizations on the college campus that I would have never known about before. Getting an engineering degree means that I’ve been able to find minds who think like mine and have similar goals as me.

Learning that I got into San Juan College High School was a mix of emotions—joy, excitement, and anticipation. The transition from middle school was a big shift, going from minimal homework to balancing both high school and college assignments. It felt overwhelming at first, but my high school teachers were incredibly understanding, and the welcoming front office staff created a comfortable environment that helped me grow socially. Though the first semester was challenging, I quickly found my rhythm, and the flexibility of the school made managing my time easier. The resources, friendships, and supportive staff made the late nights worthwhile. I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity and excited for what’s ahead.

I was so excited once I was accepted to SJCHS, ready to be surrounded by peers with the same respect and value for their education. The education I am receiving is challenging but in a way that I am seeing major growth. Even when the work gets difficult, the teachers are extremely kind and understanding. Also, all the resources I need are all provided such as the tutoring center, library, and gym (HHPC). Not only does my education feel valued, but I as a person feel valued. I am so extremely grateful for this incredible opportunity, and cannot wait to see what great things my future holds.

I like SJCHS because the students are given freedom and respect. We are treated like young adults by our teachers and professors and are respected by our teachers and professors. I also like this school because it offers a very good, accelerated learning program with many perks, such as a flexible schedule and different lunch options.
