Ms. Hall's Music Class
Building Music Literacy Through PlayAnimas Elementary, August 2026 - Students in Ms. Hall's Music Class at Animas Elementary School have been building their fundamental music literacy skills while exploring rhythmic and melodic concepts through singing, movement, and hands-on music-making. And Ms. Hall knows that sometimes the best way to learn music is to turn it into a game!
One favorite activity is “Poisonous Notes,” where students listen carefully as Ms. Hall performs a rhythm and then repeat it back. But there’s a catch! Students have to watch out for the rhythm marked as the “poisonous” one on the board. If they repeat that rhythm, they’re out! It’s a fun way to challenge students’ listening skills, memory, and rhythm recognition while keeping everyone engaged.
Teams Race to Match the Rhythm
Students also put their rhythm recognition skills to the test in a team competition! Two teams listened as Ms. Hall performed different rhythms, then raced to find the matching notes from a pile in the middle of the floor. The first designated team member to find the correct rhythm earned a point for their team!

This is Ms. Hall’s first year teaching, and she is having the best time connecting with her students and watching them discover the joy of music. She’s helping students build valuable skills they can carry with them far beyond the music classroom. We’re so glad to have Ms. Hall bringing her passion for music to Animas Elementary!
